RV8R has three main features:
The Resource
Information
Articles
The Guides
Starting at the top:
The Resource is a series of articles on what people have done when servicing their car. Although it might seem like it, it is not a servicing guide.
Information covers general matters which relate to all TVRs and indeed often cars in general. This covers such matters as supercharging, buying TVRs, reliability of both the Speed 6 engined cars and the RV8 ones, press releases from the factory, video links, some survey’s completed by Richard Beech who kindly allowed me to use the data, and there are other articles, the full list being available on Information, link above.
The Guides have been produced and selected after comments from readers. The range of downloadable information is ever increasing. At the moment we have four and a bit. They are a servicing guide, the parts list for a Chimaera, a wiring schematic, a link to a downloadable T5 gearbox stripdown and finally, and rather OTT, a book.
But the main premise behind RV8R is to provide help to owners of cars with the Rover V8 engine as well as other TVRs in order to keep them running. If there is something that you want covered, please ask. If you have done something to your car, such as basic servicing, major mechanical repairs, upgrades, bling or a full rebuild and you think this could be of help to others, please let me know.
Anyone submitting such an article gets a hotlinked endorsement (if required).
The Home page will cover all the articles new that particular issue together with any news. There will also be a mention of what is on the cards for the next issue although this cannot, it would appear, be depended upon.
RV8R is published around the end of the first week of every other month. The date varies a little. If you wished to be notified of publication please send an email to rveight@btinternet.com with the title Notify.
RV8 Resource is a bi-monthly magazine, published around the 7th of the month, for
all those interested in the Rover V8 engine and the cars it was fitted into, from
the various TVRs, especially the Griffith and Chimaera, to the utilitarian Land Rovers,
from kit cars that most can build to the sophisticated Range Rover, from the very
few original MGs, Triumphs and SD1s to Scimitars and other cars where is it seen
as viable and reliable alternative to the original engines. We also cover the scintillating
TVR Speed 6 engined TVRs.
RV8R consists of the experiences of readers, their opinions and what they have done.
It also includes articles from commercial companies, many of whom have given their
time, and in some cases money, to entertain and enlighten.
What RV8R is not is a workshop manual. You should not follow any of these articles
unless you are certain you have sufficient skills and resources to do so. And if
you do not think you have, then it is probably that you do not.
If RV8R does inspire you to try mechanical work then the only directive that RV8R
gives throughout this site is to seek advice and help from someone who is competent.
All we ask in return for all this information is that you spread the word, at meetings,
on forums and such, and that you consider the request we make when downloading the
printable servicing guide.
If you wish to be informed via email of publication, please send an email to rveight@btinternet.com
